BaratzaSette 270.
The verdict in one line: Baratza lists a 40mm conical burr set, a 120g grounds bin and stepless micro adjustment that clear our dose and fine-tuning numbers, but it publishes no grind range for medium or medium-fine and doses by time, so it suits someone who treats pour-over and AeroPress as a side job for an espresso grinder.

For you if
- You already own a scale and want an espresso-first grinder that can also fill the 15 g pour-over and 18 g AeroPress doses, with a 120g grounds bin holding either
- You want the stepless micro adjustment ring Baratza lists for nudging a grind finer or coarser, as our pour-over compass fixes ask
- You mainly pull espresso and treat pour-over or AeroPress as an occasional second method, not your daily one
Not for you if
- You brew pour-over daily and need a manufacturer-published medium setting: Baratza's page lists none, and Clive Coffee says it is not designed for pour-over
- You want a grinder that stops at a target weight: the Sette 270 doses by timer, and Seattle Coffee Gear lists the weight-based option only on the 270Wi
- You want one grinder to cover our medium and medium-fine guides with published starting points, rather than working the settings out yourself

Questions, answered plainly
FAQ.
The Sette 270 is an espresso grinder first. Baratza’s product page describes “time-based dosing” and macro adjustments “fine-tuned with the stepless micro adjustment ring.” Seattle Coffee Gear says the same thing in plainer terms: the Sette 270 is optimized for espresso. Our guides are not espresso guides, so the question is how far that carries.
The dose numbers carry fine. Our pour-over guide uses 15 g per cup and our AeroPress guide uses 18 g. Baratza lists a grounds bin of 120g (4.2oz), so either dose fits with room to spare. The stepless micro ring also answers our compass fixes, which ask you to grind finer or coarser in small moves.
The grind itself is the gap. Our pour-over guide calls for medium and our AeroPress guide calls for medium-fine. Baratza’s page publishes no grind range and no setting for either method, and Clive Coffee says the grinder is “not designed for pour-over or French press and won’t perform as well there.” That is a retailer statement, not a manufacturer spec, and this page reports it as such. Dosing is the second gap: the Sette 270 runs on a timer, while both guides weigh the dose. Seattle Coffee Gear lists the weight-based option only on the 270Wi. Clive’s feature list also gives “macro steps (1-9)”, which does not square with Baratza’s own reference to Setting 28, so that figure is left out.
FAQ
Will the grounds bin hold the doses in our guides?
Yes. Baratza lists the grounds bin at 120g (4.2oz). Our pour-over guide doses 15 g and our AeroPress guide doses 18 g, so both sit well under that capacity.
Does it dose by weight?
No. Baratza lists the dosing feature as “Timer (0.1 sec resolution)”, and Seattle Coffee Gear lists the Sette 270 as “Timed.” Our guides both list a digital scale as gear, so you would weigh the grounds yourself. Seattle Coffee Gear shows a weight-based programming option only on the Sette 270Wi.
How big is the hopper?
Baratza lists the bean hopper at 300g (10.6oz). Seattle Coffee Gear lists 10 ounces. This page uses the manufacturer’s number.
Does Baratza publish a pour-over or AeroPress setting?
Not on the product page fetched for this dossier. It lists speed to grind as 2.9g/sec (Setting 8E) - 4.0g/sec (Setting 28), which shows the dial runs past Setting 8E, but it states no grind size for medium or medium-fine. That is why the two grind checks above read as fails.
What does the warranty cover?
Baratza lists “1 Year Manufacturer Warranty” on the product page. Seattle Coffee Gear lists the same term and says Baratza handles repairs and replacement parts directly.

Corroborates the 40mm conical burrs, 120g grounds bin and 300g hopper, and supplies the retailer statement on pour-over. Its feature list says macro steps 1-9, which sits oddly beside Baratza's own Setting 28 reference, so that figure is not used.
