GaggiaClassic Evo Pro.

The verdict in one line: Gaggia's own spec sheet calibrates the OPV to the 9 bar our espresso guide requires and Home Coffee Solutions lists a 58mm double spout portafilter with a plastic tamper in the box, but the included filter baskets cap out at 14 to 18 grams, short of the 19 gram top of our guide's dose range, and neither a grinder nor a scale ships with the machine.

Plain speech

Buy it, or don't.

For you if

  • You want a machine Gaggia's own spec sheet calibrates to the 9 bar our espresso guide's gear list requires
  • You already own a burr grinder and a 0.1g digital scale: Home Coffee Solutions' included-accessories list stops at a portafilter, three filter baskets, a diffuser pin, a scoop and a plastic tamper, with no grinder or scale in the box
  • You pull single shots or doses at or under the 18 gram basket capacity in Gaggia's own spec sheet, rather than routinely pushing to the 19 gram top of our guide's dose range

Not for you if

  • You want to dose to the top of our guide's 18 to 19 gram range using the stock baskets: Home Coffee Solutions lists both included double baskets at 14 grams, and Gaggia's own spec sheet caps basket capacity at 18 grams
  • You need the machine to arrive with a burr grinder or a scale: neither appears on Home Coffee Solutions' included-accessories list
  • You want one settled number for boiler material: Gaggia's own spec sheet lists lead-free brass, while Whole Latte Love Canada describes an aluminum brew boiler with a chrome-plated brass grouphead

Questions, answered plainly

FAQ.

Gaggia’s own Classic Pro E24 product page, the current manufacturer listing for the model sold elsewhere as the Classic Evo Pro, calibrates the OPV to 9 bar. That is the exact figure our espresso guide puts at the top of its required-gear list, ahead of the grinder, scale, tamper and portafilter. The pump behind it is rated higher, a 15 bar Italian-made Ulka pump per the same spec sheet, with the OPV spring holding actual brew pressure down to that 9 bar figure.

Where the numbers get more interesting is dose. Our guide’s espresso recipe doses 18 to 19 grams into the basket. Gaggia’s own spec sheet lists filter basket capacities as 7 to 18 grams, already a tight fit at the guide’s high end. Home Coffee Solutions’ listing is more specific about what actually ships in the box: a 7 gram single basket and two 14 gram double baskets, one pressurized. Both stock double baskets sit below our guide’s 18 to 19 gram window. The same listing confirms the machine ships with a 58mm double spout stainless portafilter, a two-way diffuser pin and a coffee scoop, but no burr grinder and no scale, gear our guide lists as separate required items regardless of which machine pulls the shot. Whole Latte Love’s listing for the same model lists a 58mm plastic tamper among its included accessories.

One spec is worth flagging rather than quietly picking a side on. Gaggia’s own page states the boiler material as lead-free brass, while Whole Latte Love Canada’s listing describes an aluminum brew boiler paired with a chrome-plated brass grouphead. This dossier defers to Gaggia’s own number per that disagreement, since a manufacturer’s spec sheet takes precedence over a retailer’s paraphrase, but the two sources do not match. The Amazon listing for model RI9380/46 in brushed stainless steel matches the standalone machine other Evo Pro listings describe, not a bundle.

FAQ

What size portafilter does the Classic Evo Pro use, and does a tamper come with it?

Home Coffee Solutions lists a 58mm double spout stainless steel commercial portafilter with a 58mm portafilter diameter, and Whole Latte Love’s listing for the same model includes a 58mm plastic tamper in its included-accessories list. That satisfies our espresso guide’s requirement for a bottomless or spouted portafilter and a tamper matched to the basket diameter.

Does the machine include a grinder or a scale?

No. Home Coffee Solutions’ included-accessories list covers the portafilter, three filter baskets, a two-way diffuser pin, a coffee scoop and a plastic tamper. A burr grinder and a 0.1 gram digital scale, both required gear per our espresso guide, are not on that list.

Can I dose to the 19 gram top of the espresso guide’s range in the stock baskets?

Not comfortably. Home Coffee Solutions lists the two included double baskets at 14 grams each, and Gaggia’s own spec sheet caps filter basket capacities at 18 grams. Both sit at or under, not over, the 19 gram high end of our guide’s 18 to 19 gram dose window.

What extraction pressure does the machine run?

Gaggia’s own spec sheet lists OPV Calibration at 9 Bar, matching the 9 bar figure our espresso guide’s required-gear list calls for. The pump behind it is rated higher, 15 bar per the same spec sheet, with the OPV holding brew pressure down to 9 bar.

Is this the same machine listed elsewhere as the “Classic Pro E24”?

Yes. Gaggia’s own current site calls this product the Classic Pro E24, while Whole Latte Love, Home Coffee Solutions and Amazon all list the identical RI9380 model line under the Classic Evo Pro name this dossier checks.
